Stu's suggestions here are particularly handy for color correcting and encoding for VOD. Using the playstation as a conduit during post is a perfect DIY solution

Review links to the movie Hot Baby

When I was 15 I cut class mid-way in the afternoon and watched a movie titled 'Evil Dead 2' - it was safe to say that i was inspired - so much so that when i graduated NYU film school I quickly moved to Los Angeles to go work for Dino De Lorentis - not because they produced Felini - but because they produced all three movies in the Evil Dead series!

Fast forward to present day and being exposed to Hot Baby! - its a brutal horror film based in the suburbs of New Jersey. Being involved with film making is fun, but being involved in a Teen slasher movie is just pure glee.

Arrow in the Head Review of Hot Baby

The film is brutal and has its flaws  - but there is something there - and now working with the film maker on developing his next slasher zombie script I know we are going to have a hit.

Coming This Fall...

New Marketing Forum For Independent Filmmakers

taken from the article:
http://www.itvs.org/producers/digitalinitiative/fieldreport/hiphop.html

"But before he makes his next feature-length documentary, Hurt is planning to make a stand-alone short film made for the Internet, funded by the National Black Programming Consortium and ITVS. Entitled Barack and Curtis, it compares Barack Obama’s masculinity to the rapper 50 Cent’s. “It’s supposed to be very viral, very YouTube-able,” Hurt says. “The idea is to get people talking online.” He put some of the raw footage up on YouTube, along with two different versions of the trailer, and was embedding some of the new video content in his regular email newsletter."

Indie Filmmakers can leverage a test shoot (often done in the pre-production phase to test technology and/or actor chemistry) and make it into a trailer for their upcoming film that they can then post to community building sites, creating a forum for fans to congregate and discuss their excitement for the upcoming film and overall enthusiasm for the genre.

If you think about it, this is nothing different than what larger budget films are doing when creating trailers for us when we are consuming popcorn at our local AMC. - This is just the beginnings of a democratization of this captive audience.

It may feel like a lot of extra work for indie film makers knee deep in organizing their production, but the ROI could far outweigh the initial pains in development.
